Our Manifesto

The role of the Assistant Secretary of Junior Secondary is to record, manage, and address issues affecting Junior Secondary School teachers
Once elected, I pledge to serve with the same seriousness and commitment I have shown in the past.
At the heart of our struggle are three urgent priorities I call the Three Cardinal Pillars:
1. Independence of JSS
2. Reform of the Medical Scheme
3. Recognition of Internship Service

1. Autonomy for Junior Secondary Schools

  • Push for JSS to be managed separately from primary schools (just like ECD centers have their own administration).
  • End discrimination and CPG confusion by delinking JSS from primary schools.
  • Demand fair, transparent, and structured career growth pathways.

Why it matters:

  • JSS teachers fall under Secondary CPGs, yet career progression overlaps with Primary Senior Teachers, creating confusion and undermining authority.
  • Our Stand: JSS must be independent, with clear promotion paths aligned to post-primary standards. Primary teachers should grow in their own unit, while JSS teachers progress in theirs (free from administrative conflict and stagnation.

  • End discrimination and confusion by delinking JSS from primary administration.
  • Formal petitions already submitted to Parliament we are not waiting; we’re acting.

2. Reform the Teachers’ Medical Scheme

  • Advocate for one reliable, teacher-centered medical scheme.
  • End the injustice of paying for multiple covers that don’t serve teachers.
  • Demand timely, quality healthcare that is accessible anywhere, anytime.
  • Our Proposal: TSC should vet several providers, list them on a portal, and allow teachers to choose (with compulsory subscription).
    No monopoly. No delays. No exclusions. No frustration.

3.Recognition of Internship Service

  • Internship years must count as official service.
  • Teachers under internship carry full responsibility like their PnP peers and deserve recognition.
  • Demand full financial compensation for the internship period.
